The Santa Cruz County International Film Festival is an annual event that is held every October in Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. This year, it will be held October 20th through the 23rd.
Both Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Sonora have a history of internationally famous actors who have visited and made films in the area. The Santa Cruz area has also provided picturesque vistas for more than 100 major motion pictures.
The 2016 festival will include free screenings of motion pictures that were flimed in Santa Cruz County. Feature films will include:
- Tom Horn (1980);
- The Quick and the Dead (1995);
- Monte Walsh (1970);
- The Frisco Kid (1979); and
- Another Man, Another Chance (1977).
- In addition, our historian for Mexican films, Bob Fineman, will present information about the making of the 1959 movie Flor de Mayo, which was also filmed in English as Beyond All Limits.
In addition to screening films, the 2016 international film festival will feature trips to the movie set of Mescal, Arizona and the San Rafael Ranch, a welcome reception, Gala de Fiesta party, a screening party at the Nogales, Sonora Museum of Art and various film screenings and presentations at the Quality Hotel Americana and the Oasis Cinema 9 in Nogales, Arizona, and the Old Tin Shed Theater in Patagonia, Arizona.
