Patagonia Area Resource Alliance

The Patagonia Area Resource Alliance (PARA) is a volunteer group of community members dedicated to protecting and preserving the Patagonia, AZ area. It is a Watchdog organization that critically monitors the activities of industries, such as mining corporations, and the U.S. Forest Service, to make sure their actions have long-term, sustainable benefits to the area public lands, watershed, and local residents.

The Patagonia area is presently the location of multiple mining explorations from foreign mining companies with plans for open-pit mines on public lands all within 10 miles of town. The PARA Watchdogs are concerned about the impacts these mines and exploratory drilling projects could have on water, roads, and air quality, as well as the impacts to the local recreation and tourism industry.
