Bird with a Purpose
Jan 18 – 8 & 9am – Restoration Work and Birding at Paton Center – 8 AM bird walk, 9 AM restoration work
Combine work and play and “Bird with a Purpose”! On Thursday, January 18, we need your help to keep invasive Johnsongrass at bay, and give our natives a chance to thrive along Sonoita Creek near the Paton Center. The work will be moderate-to-heavy as we’ll be digging out roots with shovels and running a roto-tiller.Before we start the restoration work, Luke Safford will lead an hour long walk to look for Violet-crowned Hummingbird and other wintering birds at the feeders. A short jaunt up the road might yield a lingering Red-breasted Sapsucker. Bird walk starts at 8am and restoration work about 9am. Carpooling will be available. Contact Luke if you have questions. Please register for this restoration/birding trip here.
