Rev Up Your Taste Buds

Early pioneers may have existed on beans, bread, and beef, but today our area boasts multiple cuisines that satisfy nearly every palette. From regional recipes to down home breakfasts and hearty soups and sandwiches, the restaurants of The Mountain Empire serve up creative dishes at reasonable prices.

Wondering where to get the best cup of coffee or espresso drinks in Patagonia? Look no farther than the Gathering Grounds. The nexus of the Patagonia community, this comfortable and colorful cafe and sandwich shop is the right choice for a light breakfast or lunch, relaxing afternoon coffee contemplation, or weekend supper.

Beyond offering organic, shade-grown, Fair Trade lattes and chilled cafe mochas, Gathering Grounds makes fabulous sandwiches, delicious daily soups, and fresh salads. If you're trying to satisfy a sweet tooth, you'll drool over the cafe's selection of brownies, baked goods, and ice cream. Gathering Grounds also serves beer and wine, with many of the wine coming from local vineyards. Breakfast is always a treat at Gathering Grounds, but Sunday mornings look for homemade waffles from a traditional Belgian recipe. Go early, before the batter runs out.

Dinner is offered on Friday and Saturday. Call for information and reservations or visit our website.

Gathering Grounds also hosts exhibits by local artists each month. New exhibits premier on the First Thursday of the month, and pieces can be purchased throughout the following month. Call ahead for specific artists and exhibit times.
